Frequently Asked Questions
How far has my message traveled?
Your Star Text travels at the speed of light—300,000 kilometers per second. This means that one year after transmission, your message has traveled approximately 9.46 trillion kilometers, or one light-year. You can track your message’s journey through our interactive tracker which shows you how far your message has traveled..

Where did the idea for Star Texting come from?
The idea came from the loss of a friend. When Jim realized he had not talked with a friend in a while, he reached out and found out that his friend had been sick and passed away. Jim was unable to attend the funeral and felt not only loss and remorse but was unable to find closure.
Now, missing his friend every day, missing the connection through their witty banter and thoughtful discussions, and just not having a longtime friend to catch up with, an idea arose. What if Jim could send a message to live throughout time, allowing him to say “Hi,” to wish his friend “Happy Birthday,” or to finally say “Goodbye” one last time?
And thus, Star Texting was born. Our system allows you to send your thoughts of love or concern, a prayer, just say “Hello,” send a message to ET, or let the universe know that you exist in this overwhelming cosmos. It’s a way to connect beyond the limitations of time and space, reaching for something greater than ourselves.
Is Star Texting legal?
Yes, Star Texting is completely legal. Radio transmissions into space are not regulated in the same way as terrestrial broadcasts, and individuals have the right to send non-harmful communications into space.
Is my message confidential?
Yes, your message is confidential. We prioritize your privacy. Although your message will be transmitted through space, we ensure its contents remain private. After we send your message, we completely delete it from our systems, meaning only space itself will contain your message once transmitted.
However, if you give us permission, we can publish your message on our website.
